Kitana is a fictional character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series, who made her debut in MKII. She was originally a loyal servant of Shao Kahn, but broke away from his evil clutches and moved on to be one of Earthrealm's most important warriors.

In Mortal KombatEdit

Kitana's story goes back over 10,000 years ago, when her home realm, Edenia, lost its 10th Mortal Kombat tournament and was destroyed by Outworld. King Jerrod was killed and his wife, Sindel, and his daughter, Kitana were taken in by Shao Kahn himself. Suspecting Kitana would someday learn the truth, a clone of her was created, the monsterous Mileena. Upon learning her true history, Kitana turned on Kahn and ended up killing Mileena. She was inprisoned and sentenced to death, eventually escaping after Sindel's ressurection. Kitana then devoted herself to removing the dark taint in Sindel's soul. Kitana continued to fight for Earthrealm, being one of the most merciful warriors on the battlefield, even hoping that Mileena would one day reform. She was killed in the final battle of the war of Armageddon, alongside many of Earth's heroes.

In the new storyline, Kitana was loyal to Shao Kahn until Liu Kang showed her mercy after defeating her in battle. Raiden sensed the conflict in her mind and told her to go to the Flesh Pits, where she encountered Mileena, a newly created hideous clone of her. Defeating her in battle and bringing the matter up with Shao Kahn, she learned that Mileena was created to replace her as Kahn's daughter. Having no further need of her, he sentenced Kitana to death. She was rescued by the Earthrealm warriors but lost her life anyways in a brutal fight with Sindel, her ressurected mother.
